Salt Lake LDS Temple Gallery : With its awe-inspiring height and incredible detail, the Salt Lake LDS Temple has to be the most amazing LDS temple to photograph. For me, black, white and sepia tones capture its timelessness best. With a simultaneously modern and antique feel, these photographs are a perfect representation of a place that Mormons revere for binding Eternal Marriages that allow Familes to be Together Forever. A little history: Four days after entering the Salt Lake Valley on 24 July 1847, Brigham Young designated where the temple would be built, and on 6 April 1853, he laid the cornerstone of the temple foundation. That event marked the beginning of a long construction process. Many difficulties slowed the building of the temple. Granite was quarried in Little Cottonwood Canyon, 20 miles southeast of Temple Square, and transported to the site by teams of oxen. A single wagonload required four days of travel to reach the temple site. Work on the temple stretched from years to decades until finally, 40 years after it was begun, the temple was completed and dedicated on 6 April 1893 by Wilford Woodruff, the fourth President of the Church. Today, Latter-day Saints continue to gather in temples throughout the world to worship and participate in sacred ordinances such as eternal marriage. As you gaze at the angel Moroni atop the temple and the intricate carvings on the doors, knobs, and walls, perhaps you might contemplate the incredible dedication of those remarkable pioneers whose faith in the Lord inspired them to build this impressive and sacred edifice. Temple Facts from LdsChurchTemples.com: The Manti Utah Temple was the third temple built in Utah and only temple dedicated by President Lorenzo Snow. It was built on a rattlesnake-infested site, known as the Manti Stone Quarry. Once Brigham Young designated the site for a temple, it became known as Temple Hill. The quarry's stone, Manti oolite, is the same cream-colored stone used for the temple exterior. On the morning of the site dedication, Brigham Young confided to Warren S. Snow that Temple Hill was the spot where Book of Mormon Prophet Moroni dedicated the land for a temple site.

Oquirrh Mountain LDS Temple Gallery : This is my temple! I go here almost every week and see it every day, as it is in my neighborhood. Temple Facts from Ldschurchtemples.com: The Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple was the thirteenth temple built in Utah and the fourth built in the Salt Lake Valley, following the Salt Lake Temple (1893), the Jordan River Utah Temple (1981), and the Draper Utah Temple (2009). The Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple and the Jordan River Utah Temple are the only two temples in the world located in the same city (and in the same zip code). The spire of the Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple was installed atop the temple on July 11, 2008, immediately followed by installation of a gold-leafed statue of the angel Moroni. Lightning struck the angel Moroni statue atop the Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple on Saturday afternoon, June 13, 2009, during the public open house. The powerful bolt of lightning blackened Moroni's trumpet, arm, and face. A replacement statue was installed on August 11, 2009, 10 days before the dedicatory services began. President Thomas S. Monson dedicated the Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple on his 82nd birthday. The crowd gathered for the cornerstone ceremony spontaneously sang him a birthday song. For the first time in Utah's history, church was cancelled statewide on August 23, 2009, to allow members to attend the dedication of the Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple without conflict.

St George LDS Temple Gallery : This was the first LDS temple completed in Utah by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Beginning in 1871, Latter-day Saints came from all over southern Utah to volunteer time, labor, and materials for the temple. Dedicated in 1877, the striking white monument was finished before the better-known Salt Lake Temple. More info and photos to come...

Pine Valley Historic LDS Chapel Gallery : This unique chapel has the distinguished position of being the oldest LDS chapel in continuous use. On a personal note, it was one of the places my family first fell in love with when we moved to America. To this day, my parents own a cabin there where they often attend church in the summer. In the 1860s the group of settlers sent to establish the Washington and Santa Clara colonies desired a permanent chapel that was similar in style to the churches they had left in New England. However, the only person in Pine Valley who was even remotely qualified as an architect was Ebenezer Bryce, a shipbuilder. Ebenezer took on the challenge and used his shipbuilding experience to design the chapel. Ebenezer applied unique techniques as he constructed the chapel, including wrapping the corners of the building with strips of green rawhide that tightened as they dried. When the church was finished, he said, "If a flood should come, it would float and if a wind came strong enough to blow it over, it would still never crash to pieces." Still loved and used today, the Pine Valley Chapel holds a rich history that the whole family can enjoy. Tours are available. * Information from www.LDS.org

Draper LDS Temple Gallery : The Draper Temple was dedicated in March of 2009 as the twelfth in Utah and third in the Salt Lake Valley. The sego lily, Utah state flower is a theme carried out throughout the temple. The windows, created by a local Utah artist, are also very interesting. They incorporate the Log Cabin quilt pattern used by the early pioneers and survived a fire that destroyed the artist's studio and everything in it except the windows for the temple. Also of note is that this temple has the largest sealing room in Utah to accomodate marriages with many in attendance.

Charity : One of my many passions is "being actively engaged in a good cause", as Joseph Smith encouraged. We can all step up in our own way, using our individual time, talents, and resources to bring about wonderful things. This new "Charity" gallery is where I will be adding "special edition" prints that will benefit charitable endeavors. My first "special edition" is of the St George Temple. About Me : I've always loved photography since I got my first non-working polaroid camera at age three. It was the best Christmas present I got the year we immigrated to America from Brazil. I've been making memories with photographs ever since, only with real cameras instead of imagination! I rarely actually appear in photos myself, unless it is a super special occasion, like our first RSL game in SLC or the time I actually fixed our bumper :) With my current LDS temple project, my goal was selfish, to create beautiful images for my own home that fit my style. To my great happiness, I discovered that I wasn't the only one that liked my work! Thus, Busy Bumble Bee Photography with the Bee Square product line was born.
